Have you slipped on a spillage in a shop or supermarket and suffered an injury?

Shop owners have a duty to ensure you are reasonably safe while you shop. Spillages often occur when customers drop items such as pots of yoghurt or bottles of shampoo on the floor. Shop owners can’t be everywhere at once but they are expected to put in place a reasonable system to ensure that any spills are identified and cleared away quickly.

The shop will have to prove that they had a reasonable system and that it was working at the time of your accident. It is very important for us to establish how long the spill had been there – if it had only just happened, the shop won’t be liable but, if it had been left for some time or there were staff nearby who should have seen it and cleaned it up, you will be entitled to compensation.

If you’ve had a slip, you should report it as soon as possible to the shop and give details of what you think the substance was that you slipped on. It will make it much easier for us to prove that the accident actually happened.

We will need to know what the substance was, or at least what colour it was and how big the spill was. Contact details of witnesses are also very helpful so that we can corroborate your account of events and persuade the shop’s insurers that you should be compensated.

We have successfully recovered compensation for clients injured after slipping in shops and our lawyers can help you get the compensation you need to get on with your life.

Thanks again for all your hard work and getting the extra compensation. We have received the cheque, so I guess it means goodbye for now. Hopefully we won’t have any more incidents but, if so, we know who to use.
